Privacy Policy

A clear account of how GPUpdate handles academic records, account details, advertising choices, diagnostics, and purchases.

Effective: July 14, 2026 App: GPUpdate Publisher: FrostBit

GPUpdate helps people calculate and synchronize GPA and CGPA records. We use information only to operate those features, support optional advertising and purchases, keep the app reliable, and meet legal obligations.

1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to the GPUpdate applications, related cloud services, and the GPUpdate website (collectively, the “Service”). GPUpdate is published by FrostBit and operated by Francis Anyeji Chukwudi in Enugu, Nigeria.

By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. Where consent is legally required—particularly for personalized advertising—we request it separately and do not treat general use of the app as advertising consent.

2. Information we process

The information processed depends on the features you choose. You can use core GPA calculation features locally, while account and synchronization features require additional information.

Account and profile
Email address, display name, first and last name, authentication identifier, and an optional profile photo.
Academic records
Levels, semesters, courses, credit units, grades, GPA and CGPA results, and grading-system preferences entered by you.
Device and diagnostics
Device model, operating-system and app version, language, crash traces, performance information, IP address, and similar technical data.
Advertising data
Advertising identifiers, consent signals, approximate location inferred from IP address, ad impressions, clicks, rewards, and fraud-prevention signals.
Purchase information
Product identifier, purchase status, transaction identifier, and entitlement status. We do not receive or store your complete payment-card details.
Communications
Information you choose to include when sending feedback, support requests, privacy requests, or deletion requests.

Local storage

GPUpdate stores app settings and academic records locally on your device. If you enable account or synchronization features, relevant records are also transmitted to cloud services so they can be restored or used across supported devices.

Website information

The GPUpdate website is a static site and does not intentionally set advertising cookies. Its hosting provider may process ordinary server-log information such as IP address, request time, requested page, and browser or device information for security and service delivery.

3. How we use information

We process information to:

  • create and secure accounts and provide password-reset functionality;
  • calculate, store, synchronize, restore, and export academic records;
  • display banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded advertisements;
  • remember purchases and suppress advertising after a valid Remove Ads purchase;
  • diagnose crashes, prevent abuse and fraud, and improve reliability;
  • respond to support, privacy, access, correction, and deletion requests; and
  • comply with applicable laws and enforce our rights.

Legal bases for European users

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases may include performance of a contract when providing requested app features, consent for eligible advertising or optional processing, legitimate interests in security and service improvement, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

4. Advertising and privacy choices

GPUpdate uses Google AdMob on supported Android and iOS versions to provide banner, interstitial, and rewarded advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may process device identifiers, IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, advertising interactions, diagnostics, and consent signals to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and personalize ads where permitted.

Some platform versions may use Liftoff Monetize (formerly Vungle) for advertising. That provider may process similar device, advertising, interaction, and diagnostic information under its own privacy terms.

Your advertising choices

In the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, GPUpdate uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request advertising consent where required. Eligible users can consent, decline, or manage individual purposes and partners.

Users in applicable US states may opt out of targeted advertising and processing that applicable law defines as sale or sharing. Open Profile → Privacy options in GPUpdate whenever that entry is available to review or change your choices.

We do not sell personal information for money. Certain disclosures to advertising partners may nevertheless be treated as “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under some US state privacy laws. If you decline advertising consent, availability and fill of limited or non-personalized ads may vary.

Apple tracking permission

On supported iOS versions, Apple may show an App Tracking Transparency prompt before an advertising identifier is available for tracking. Declining that prompt does not prevent use of GPUpdate’s core functionality.

Learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its services at Google’s partner-sites information page.

5. Service providers

We use service providers that process information on our behalf or under their own terms:

  • Google Firebase: authentication, cloud database, profile-photo/file storage, and website hosting.
  • Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform: advertising, consent collection, measurement, and fraud prevention.
  • Sentry: crash reporting, diagnostics, and performance monitoring.
  • Google Play Billing and Apple App Store: payment processing, purchase validation, and entitlement restoration.
  • Liftoff Monetize / Vungle: advertising on supported platform versions.

Their handling of information is also governed by their policies: Google Privacy Policy, Firebase privacy information, Sentry Privacy Policy, Liftoff Privacy Policy, and Apple Privacy Policy.

6. When information is shared

We may disclose information:

  • to the service providers described above as necessary to operate selected features;
  • when you direct us to share or export information;
  • to comply with law, legal process, or valid governmental requests;
  • to protect users, investigate fraud or abuse, or defend legal rights; or
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of the Service, subject to appropriate notice and safeguards.

We do not publicly expose your academic records or profile information through GPUpdate.

7. Retention and deletion

Local information remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app. Cloud-synchronized account and academic information is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward as necessary to provide restoration, resolve disputes, maintain security, and comply with law.

Advertising, diagnostic, hosting, and store providers retain information according to their own retention schedules. Purchase records may be retained by the relevant store for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes.

To request deletion of information associated with your GPUpdate account, email frostbit.digital@gmail.com from the address connected to the account. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Some records may be retained where legally required.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an explanation of information we process; to object to certain processing; to withdraw consent; or to appeal a decision about a privacy request. You may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority.

Residents of applicable US states may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, portability, targeted advertising, and processing considered a sale or sharing of personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

To exercise a right, use the contact details below and identify the account or device relevant to your request. Authorized agents should provide evidence of their authority.

9. Children’s privacy

GPUpdate is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

A content rating that permits a broad audience does not change this intended-audience statement. Parents and guardians should supervise use where required by local law.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including platform security controls and encrypted network connections used by our service providers. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Keep your account credentials confidential and contact us if you suspect unauthorized use.

11. International transfers

GPUpdate and its providers may process information in Nigeria, the United States, and other countries where providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection rules. Where required, providers use contractual or other recognized safeguards for international transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when GPUpdate’s features, providers, or legal obligations change. The current version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. If a change is material, we may also provide notice through the app, app-store listing, website, or email where appropriate.

13. Contact us

Contact FrostBit with privacy questions or requests. Please do not send passwords, payment-card information, or unnecessary sensitive information by email.
